Breast Cancer Fact
In 2006, new breast cancer diagnoses will slightly double the number of lung cancer diagnoses among Canadian women.

How funds are used

Over the years we have been able to help breast cancer patients with their financial battle against the disease. We have helped women from Coast to Coast and continue to make their battle a little less challenging.

We have found that we are able to broaden the scope of how breast cancer patients need help financially. It is always a difficult thing in any situation to admit that you need financial help without feeling like a failure. No one ever plans on getting ill or how an illness could potentially affect them and their family. In 2006 there have been many insurance companies offering “critical illness” insurance for situations such as a cancer diagnosis but unfortunately many people are not made aware of this coverage until they are actually diagnosed and at that point it is too late for this coverage. In addition to loss of income due to inability to work or not qualifying for government assistance, there are expenses incurred by breast cancer patients in this financial trying time – this is why what we do is so important so the financial stress can be relieved and they can focus on getting well.

We have helped pay or paid for many items over the years. Some examples are:

  • wigs
  • prosthetics
  • transportation to treatments
  • lodging expenses
  • hospital parking cost
  • counseling
  • food
  • household bills while under treatment
  • rent

(These are just some examples of how your donations help patients with breast cancer)

In 2005 we were able to assist just under 100 women in their battle with breast cancer. Donations were also made to the Royal Victoria Hospital for their cancer center.

In  2006 we have been able to help over 136 breast cancer patients as well as making financial contributions to breast cancer programs across the country. Unfortunately we dispursed all of funds by fall of 2006 and had a wating list of 56 breast cancer patients waiting for assistance.

In 2007 we have been able to help close to 200 women across Canada fighting breast cancer.  At the end of July 2007 we have again dispursed all of funds and already having a waiting list of wonderful ladies to help.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated, if you could make a donation it would go a long way to help these ladies waiting.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT, THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT YOUR GENEROSITY!
